What does a man have to do to be nominated?
The Professional Footballers’ Association have unveiled the list of players nominated for the Player of the Year Award, with the league’s joint-top scorer, Heung-min Son, excluded from the list.
Yes, you read that right, the player who scored the most goals in the Premier League is not included on the list. Nope, we don’t know why either.
You will see though that Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo has been included on the list of those nominated. Of course, he has scored goals for United, but the 37-year-old found the back of the net 18 times and his all-round performance was sometimes questionable to say the least.
Son will likely feel even more aggrieved knowing that the man who he shared the golden boot with, Mohamed Salah, has been nominated alongside two other Liverpool players.
Both Virgil van Dijk and Sadio Mane have also been nominated for the award while Son’s teammate Harry Kane and title-winner Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City have also received nominations.

But as expected, when the player who has scored the number of goals South Korea international Son has, people will begin to question why he hasn’t been included on the list.
Most people seemed most perplexed as to why the Tottenham winger had been overlooked for the award, with most people describing it as a “disgrace,” while others also claimed that the award was biased towards Liverpool after their three nominations.

In all honesty, no matter who was nominated for the award, people would have found a reason to criticise and question why player X and Y were/were not included.
The winner of the award will be revealed on June 9.
