Leicester and Sale Sharks opponents confirmed for Champions Cup quarter finals
Having shared six European Cups between them, Leicester vs. Leinster should be a fizzer.
The venues and dates for the last eight of the 2021/22 Heineken Champions Cup have been confirmed. All matches will take place between May 6-8, with the times set to be confirmed in the next 24 hours.
Leinster will travel to Welford Road to take on a Leicester Tigers team that wiped the floor with Clermont Auvergne in their Last 16 encounters.
Leinster, who are chasing their fifth European Cup title, were comfortable winners, over two legs, against interprovincial rivals Connacht. The first leg in Galway was close but, inspired by four-try James Lowe, they blew the Westerners away on Good Friday.
Sale Sharks, who defeated Pat Lam's Bristol Bears, will travel to Paris to face Racing 92. The Parisians found city rivals Stade Francais in obdurate form but ran away with the game in the second half.
Ed Sheeran concert means Munster must travel
As previously reported, Munster will host defending champions Toulouse at Aviva Stadium in Dublin for their 'home' tie. Ed Sheeran concerts at Thomond Park, in early May, mean the province's Limerick stadium will not be game-ready.
Munster will then host Toulouse at the Lansdowne Road venue and the French side's captain and talisman is predicting an 'immense challenge'.
The final game of the last eight will see last season's beaten finalists La Rochelle face Montpellier in an all-French affair. Montpellier edged out Harlequins while Ronan O'Gara's La Rochelle thumped Bordeaux Beglès over two legs.
