It’s getting a bit out of hand now

Argentina fans have burned a coffin with a picture of Kylian Mbappé’s face on it during their World Cup celebrations.

The country has gone into full party mode since they beat France on Sunday to win their first World Cup since 1986.

Around 4m Argentinians lined the streets of Buenos Aires for the open-top bus parade however the celebrations had to be suspended as fans tried to climb and jump onto the bus the players were travelling on.

As one of the most passionate footballing nations in the world, it’s no surprise to have seen some of the whacky and wonderful celebrations the people of Argentina have been involved in, but some are now getting out of hand.

A video that has gone viral on social media shows a group of supporters carrying a coffin which contained a cross and a picture of Mbappé.

The coffin was then set alight as those watching the celebrations then began to dance and cheer round the flaming object.

One user wrote: “How has Kylian Mbappe rattled a whole country at age 24?”

Mbappé has been at the centre of the majority of Argentina’s jokes about beating their French counterparts at the Lusail Stadium.

Larger than life goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has been one of the most vocal ever since he was first pictured consoling the Frenchman.

Martinez instructed his teammates to have a “moment of silence” for the 24-year-old during their dressing room celebrations before taking a baby doll with a picture of the Paris Saint-Germain forward’s face on the front of it.
