Reports in Belgium have said that Andy Carroll is currently undergoing tests at Club Brugge ahead of a potential move this summer.

Carroll is currently a free agent after leaving West Bromwich Albion at the end of the season having made 14 appearances, scoring three times after joining them from Reading in January.

Brugge are keen on bringing in Carroll

At the age of 33 it is fair to say that the forward’s best days are behind him, and that the ex-Liverpool striker is approaching the end of his career.

Ever since his £35m move to Anfield, the towering figure has had a frustrating time with several injuries over the years which have hampered his destiny to fulfil his potential.

Carroll has still proved that he is worth his salt on the odd occasion though and according to Nieuwsblad in Belgium, the 33-year-old is close to sealing a quick return to football.

Should the move go through Brugge see it as a low-risk option, given that they won’t be paying a fee for him, but they won’t sign him until the full extent of his medical report comes back.

Carroll’s career to date

The Newcastle-born forward started his career at his boyhood club where he burst onto the scene as a youngster, finishing as their top scorer as the Magpies won the Championship.

Carroll then moved to Liverpool for a then-record transfer paid for a British player but struggled with the weight of the price tag – scoring 11 times in 58 games.

He then moved to West Ham United before returning to Newcastle. His two most recent spells have been at Reading and West Brom.

Carroll has also made nine England appearances, scoring twice.
