The US ambassador to the UK has confirmed

Donald Trump will meet the Queen during his working visit to the UK in July, the US ambassador to the UK has confirmed. The trip on July 13 will not get the bells and whistles of a traditional state visit - a horse-drawn carriage down the Mall to Buckingham Palace, and the rest. Kay Burley asked whether the itinerary included a meeting with Her Majesty. He said: "Yes, yes, I mean he has to see the head of state. Putting his foot on British soil, it's job one, it's very important, very symbolic. "Meeting Her Majesty is the most important thing, because she's the head of state, and from then on, it'll be what the president wants to do." After it was revealed children were being separated from their parents in immigrant detention centres, the American president has succumbed to national outrage and signed an executive order banning the practice today. Theresa May was under pressure to cancel the visit for this reason, as well as many, many others.
