Phillip Schofield says his ‘hands are blistered’ from vaping so much

‘Furiously vaping’

Amongst the many revelations about Phillip Schofield to emerge in recent days, his reliance on a vape really captured the attention of the internet.

Some went as far as saying the 61-year-old had done “more damage for the vape community than health warnings ever could”.

The disgraced presenter, who quit This Morning amid a fallout with co-presenter Holly Willoughby before being engulfed in revelations he’d had an affair with a younger man while on the show, gave two videoed interviews this week.

During one, he revealed he had “blistered both hands”, by vaping so much, while sitting on the sofa and staring into space since he quit the show, two weeks ago. He reportedly sucked on a Lost Mary vape – a fruity blend of blueberry and raspberry flavours – during the interview.

Schofield had also taken some comfort in Southern Comfort, he said, while revealing he does not “know a time I will be able to walk out the door” and fears he will be spit on.

During clips of his interview with The Sun, his first newspaper chat since admitting to the affair, he occasionally smoked a blue vape.

“I am not sleeping, I am not eating. There’s a lot of Southern Comfort,” he said. “My mind is in constant, utter turmoil. I think back to regrets, forwards to… What do I do now? What I am going to do now?”

During the interview, Schofield showed his “collection” of blisters and calluses, according to The Sun, and admitted: “I’ve been vaping, a lot. I didn’t realise until suddenly it hurt, but I’ve been sitting looking up at the sky or out of the window, just staring into space.”

Schofield continued: “I just sit on the sofa and stare. I realise by doing that, I’ve blistered both hands.”

He also did an interview with the BBC where he said he saw nothing but “blackness” ahead of him and that he could understand how Caroline Flack must have before she took her own life, as the pressure had been “relentless”.

“Do you want me to die? Because that’s where I am,” Schofield said.

“It is relentless, and it is day after day, after day after day.

“If you don’t think that that is going to have the most catastrophic effect on someone’s mind – do you want me to die? Because that’s where I am. I have lost everything.”

The Tab suggested Schofield had done “more damage for the vape community than health warnings ever could” and joked that he had been “clutching onto a Lost Mary vape for dear life” during the interview.
