Swift postponed her Saturday night performance
Worrying footage of Taylor Swift struggling to cope with the extreme heat while performing in Brazil has surfaced online.
Swift is currently on the South American leg of her sold-out Eras tour but was met with temperatures as high as 38C while in Rio de Janeiro.
In the clip, Swift can be seen instructing staff to hand out water to fans.
She said: “There’s people that need water right here, maybe 30, 35, 40 feet back.
“So whoever is in charge of giving them that, just make sure that happens. Can I get a signal that you know where they are?”
Another video appears to catch the 33-year-old struggling as she pauses in-between songs in order to catch her breath.
The clip emerged just hours after it was confirmed that 23-year-old fan Ana Clara Benevides Machado had died hours before the show had started.
Posting to her Instagram stories, Swift said: “I can’t believe I’m writing these words but it is with shattered heart that I say we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show.
“I can’t even tell you how devastated I am by this.
“There’s very little information I have, other than the fact that she was so incredibly beautiful and far too young.
“I’m not going to be able to speak about this from stage because I feel overwhelmed by grief when I even try to talk about it.
“I want to say now I feel this loss deeply and my broken heart goes out to her family and friends.
“This is the last thing I ever thought would happen when we decided to bring this tour to Brazil.”
Brazilian outlet Fohla De Sao Paolo, Machado reportedly fainted at the stadium and later died.
The cause of death is yet to be announced.
Additionally, Swift made the decision to postpone her gig on Saturday night (18 November) due to the extreme heat.
