Baba Vanga’s terrifying predictions for 2023

Steve Hopkins

2023 isn’t looking good

Baba Vanga may have died more than two decades ago, but the famous mystic made some predictions about next year and they’re not very encouraging.

The Bulgarian, who died in August 1996, has made headlines long after her passing due her predictions continuing to ring eerily true.

Since she was a child, Baba was said to have felt inclinations about upcoming events, but during the second world war she developed a reputation for fortune-telling. According to reports, Baba predicted the break up of the Soviet Union, Joseph Stalin’s death, the September 11th attacks, as well as her own death. And this year, two of her predictions have happened – that large cities around the world would be hit by significant droughts and water shortages.

When Baba died, age 84, she left predictions for every year up until 5079.

Sky History says one of Baba’s claims for the year ahead is that a devastating solar storm will hit.

A solar storm can refer to several phenomena on the sun’s surface, which include solar flares and vast eruptions of plasma capable of reaching Earth and causing widespread damage such as frying power grids.

If Baba’s prediction comes true, it would likely result in cuts to communication services, causing widespread havoc.

Experts have warned that the damage could lead to blackouts that would last years.

Baba also suggested a change in Earth’s orbit would happen in 2023.

Every year, Earth travels 584 million miles around the sun, typically in an oval shape, and changes do happen, but usually over thousands of years.

The effects of even subtle, slow changes can be severe.

For example, it’s been theorised that an orbital shift contributed to the Palaeocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum, a period of intense global warming that took place almost 56 million years ago, Sky History noted.

If a radical shift occurred over the course of a single year the effects would be apocalyptic. Think soaring temperatures and radiation levels and devastating environmental consequences.

Quite cheerily, Sky History noted that that was putting aside the “possibility that the orbital shift hinted at by Baba Vanga might be caused by an asteroid impact, which could well be an extinction-level event”.

Baba is also said to have had a vision of  bioweapons tests being carried out by a big country in 2023, resulting in the deaths of thousands of people.

“This is arguably one of the more viscerally disturbing predictions ever provided by the prophetess. It also seems relevant to the current, heated geopolitical context,” Sky History suggested.

According to MailOnline, Baba, who correctly prediction of the Chernobyl disaster, also warned of a potential nuclear power plant explosion in 2023 – timely given concerns over the conflict in Ukraine – and an end to natural births.
