Dream job

Do you love Christmas dinners? Like, really love them? Do you think about them all year? And do you wish to escape the rat race and find a career that you can really get your teeth into?

This might be the answer.

A pub in Manchester is looking for someone to be a professional pigs-in-blankets taster.

Yes, The Oast House pub is looking for someone who is a true connoisseur of sausages wrapped in bacon, and will pay them for their expertise.

In an advert listed on Airtasker, the pub’s Development Chef says they will pay £500 to the right person.

“Are you a self-confessed Christmas Dinner connoisseur?” the advert reads. “Do you love pigs in blankets? Do you love the trimmings as much as the turkey? If yes, then I’ve got the ideal task for you!”

“Here, you’ll be served a range of pigs in blankets – each portion paired with a twist – throwing up some interesting flavour combinations. We’re interested to hear if traditional pigs in blankets suffice, or whether we can open your mind (and taste buds) to some tasty new twists on the festive classic?”

So what do you have to do to apply?

“Simply… share a story of your funniest Christmas moment to date.”

“The applicant with the story that makes us laugh or cry the most will be given the chance to join us at the tasting session.”

The only catch is that applicants have to be based in Manchester – but surely this is a career opportunity worth relocating for?

And if that isn’t the right position for you, there was also that pub offering the job of Yorkshire pudding taster.
