Nigella Lawson’s banana skin curry leaves viewers very confused

Sound tasty?

Nigella Lawson returned to BBC Two on Monday night, and prepared a somewhat unexpected dish: banana skin curry.

Nigella’s Cook, Eat, Repeat focuses on her “rhythms and rituals” in the kitchen.

After using very ripe bananas to make a chocolate tahini pudding, she used up the skins by putting them in the curry.

Nigella prepared the banana skins by covering them in boiling water, then adding turmeric and salt. The peel was chopped up and added to the curry sauce.

She commented that often when she makes it for people, they think it is aubergines, not banana.

Viewers on social media were not totally convinced though.

“I cannot get on board with banana skins in a curry, even if you tell me it’s aubergine,” said one Nigella Lawson fan.

“Banana skin curry?? Naaa, Nigella Lawson is the Piers Morgan of cooking shows,” added another viewer.

Nigella Lawson herself responded to the reaction after the show.

“I hope I didn’t traumatise you too much with the banana skins,” she tweeted. “I promise you the curry is divine.”
