McDonald’s is giving away ‘reindeer treats’ on Christmas Eve

The fast-food outlet launched their festive ad on Sunday

McDonald’s has announced it will be giving away carrot sticks on Christmas Eve, cheekily naming them ‘Reindeer Treats’.

The news comes after the McDonald’s Christmas advert launched on Sunday, which tells the story of Father Christmas and his reindeer, as they visit house after house on Christmas Eve.

In the film, Santa keeps himself going with a steady supply of mince pies, however, his reindeers are only given a snack when he sees the golden McDonald’s ‘M’ in the distance and stops by to orders them some carrots.

Ben Fox, Marketing Director at McDonald’s, said: “Our new Reindeer Ready campaign aims to remind customers that we are there when they need us at this time of year – from a Christmas shopping coffee break to a pre-party burger or even a mid-present delivery carrot stop. From TV to OOH, social to in-store, we will make sure there is a little reindeer magic for everyone this Christmas.”

Leo Burnett’s chief creative officer, Chaka Sobhani, said: “After last year, we wanted to build even more fun ways to help get the country Reindeer Ready. With a unique and playful Snapchat lens and filters, an exclusive reindeer e-book, Christmas jumper giveaways, Festive branded carrots and the magical story of Father Christmas and his Reindeer, we hope this year’s McDonald’s campaign warms the hearts of the nation and captures a bit of the magical anticipation of Christmas.”

A dedicated website also gives customers the chance to win McDonald’s festive merchandise and decorations.
