Subway has kicked off 2026 with a major shakeup to its menu – adding two new items as well as an enticing dessert option.
With January typically a month of watching our waistlines, the sandwich giant is clearly trying to strike a balance between “new year, new me” and the very real desire for something seriously tasty.
Landing in stores from 7 January, the headline addition is the new Breaded Chicken Sub, which gives a lighter spin on a fan-favourite. Instead of being fried, the chicken breast is baked, quadruple coated and finished to a golden crisp, before being loaded into freshly baked bread and customised however you like.
Whether you’re going all-in with cheese and sauce or keeping things a bit more restrained, Subway is pitching this as a sandwich that proves you don’t have to sacrifice flavour to make slightly better choices. For those who want maximum impact, there’s also a recommended build featuring crispy maple streaky bacon, melted cheese and sweet chilli sauce.

Plant-based fans aren’t being left out either. Subway is also trialling a brand-new Smashed Falafel Sub in 300 UK stores. Made with falafel from green chickpeas blended with herbs and spices, it’s fully vegan and designed to deliver bold flavours while still ticking the “fresh and nutritious” box.
Both new subs can be ordered as a Footlong or 6-inch, as well as wraps, salads or spuds, with Falafel Bites also joining the menu as a side.
And because no Subway trip is complete without something sweet, the Oat & Raisin Cookie is making a comeback. The returning fan favourite now comes with a fibre-rich recipe and even more raisins – which feels like a small but meaningful win.
To top it all off, Subway Rewards members can grab 30 per cent off any sub from 7–13 January, alongside weekly SubYay deals on the app.
The Breaded Chicken Sub and Oat & Raisin Cookie are available nationwide from 7 January 2026, while the Smashed Falafel Sub will be trialled until 24 March – or until it sells out.
