KFC has revealed that the release is due to the demand from all the passionate Double Down fans in the UK.
A spokesperson said: "We were inundated with thousands of tweets demanding the Double Down return to the UK, so there was only one thing we could do.
"Ever since we first launched Double Down in the UK, our fans have been calling out for a Zinger edition. We listened.
"The fiery heat of our Zinger is iconic and one of our best-loved flavours, so we totally agreed it was a no-brainer to launch this as a Double Down.
The 'stack of cals' (not a burger remember) will be available from 12 August and is, unfortunately, very very sorry, another limited release.
But don't worry. You can dry your eyes on those two big slabs of chicken in front of you and let the salty flavour of your tears and the trademark Zinger sauce mix together and send you to heaven for a few bites.
After all, I think it was either Tennyson or the Kentucky Fried Chicken Colonel who famously said: 'Tis better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all.'
Still though. Not a burger, is it?Explore more on these topics:
