Heinz has combined mayonnaise and ketchup to create Mayochup

James Dawson

The condiment has been released in the USA

Condiments, it seems every day their powers grow stronger. Through salt and vinegar, mustard, Lea and Perrins, ketchup, salad cream, mayonnaise, BBQ, pepper sauce, hot sauce, sriracha – we have reached where we are today, each of us swimming in sauce, unable to eat any meal without it. Our minds and plates and tongues both physically and metaphorically drenched in the stuff.

But you have to think, don’t you, where could it possibly go from here? Where else is there for us, the condiment-obsessed inhabitants of Britain, to go on our gustatory journey? Because – just look in your kitchen cupboard – there’s already a lot of sauce. You could even be forgiven for thinking there’s too much.

It seems, though, that the answer was right here before our eyes all along. Because Heinz, an old friend, has decided to launch a new product in the US of A, although it likely will feel pretty familiar to most of you.

Behold: Mayochup.

Yes, that’s right, the company has gone ahead and combine their ketchup and their mayo.

It was created after the company conducted an online poll. The feedback they received was overwhelming, the public wanted it to be made – and so it has been. It’s now available to buy in grocery stores across America.

Sadly for us sauce-thirsty Brits, the product has yet to be brought to the UK, but my advice is to keep your ears to the ground.

Nicole Kulwicki, the director of marketing for Heinz, said: “After seeing the unprecedented passion surrounding this product, including the nearly one million votes on social media and 500,000 votes in favor of bringing it stateside, launching Mayochup in the U.S. was a no-brainer.

“We’re excited to officially welcome Heinz Mayochup sauce to the Heinz family of products, including ketchup, mustard, BBQ sauce and our most recent addition, Heinz mayonnaise.”

GIVE. US. THE. SAUCE.
