Revealed: The day most Brits will be hungover this December

Charlie Herbert

The main culprit? The infamous office Christmas party

Christmas is the season of many things. Giving, receiving, eating and, for most of us, drinking. A lot of drinking.

As we all know, this means one thing – it’s also the season of hangovers. And research has now revealed the day this month when most Brits will be feeling a little worse for wear.

More than two-thirds of Brits (68 percent) have admitted they are preparing to be hungover in the coming weeks, and Domino’s has found that this Friday (December 16) will be the date Brits are most hungover – thanks to the majority attending their annual Christmas party the night before.

The nation’s best-loved pizza company polled 2,000 office workers to discover they’re set to attend a whopping 16 social events on average over the festive period – with the highly-anticipated office Christmas party falling on Thursday 15th December for most revellers this year.

All this celebrating means that on average, we’ll endure four nasty hangovers this month, with each one lasting 10 hours on average – or even 24 hours for an unlucky 8 percent of Brits.

Perhaps because of our fondness for booze and parties, three quarters of us claim to have a go-to hangover ‘cure’, including having a cold shower, drinking a Bloody Mary and even going for a swim.

So, in the season of hangovers, Domino’s is giving away a limited-edition tomato drink – aptly named Bloody Domino’s – as a festive treat to the nation.

Inspired by the classic hair of the dog, Bloody Domino’s is a delicious, spiced tomato drink that is perfectly balanced and packed with flavour.

Available to pre-order, a bottle of Bloody Domino’s combines tomato juice with pickle juice, and a generous kick thanks to a spicy blend of turmeric, cayenne pepper, fresh horseradish, and black pepper.

Whether it becomes the perfect stocking filler for the tomato-loving fan in your life, or helps provide some much-needed festive refreshment, the limited-edition Bloody Domino’s is available exclusively at www.bloodydominos.co.uk until the end of Wednesday (December 14).

Melanie Howe, Bloody Domino’s Taste Tester said: “Hangovers can be horrid so it’s no surprise we all have our way of dealing with them. Some reach for a Domino’s pizza, others a Bloody Mary. So, when we found out the nation was as tomato obsessed as us, we were inspired – and Bloody Domino’s was born.”

And if a Bloody Mary isn’t up your street, then fear not, because here are the UK’s top 15 hangover cures to provide you with a bit of inspiration next time you wake up feeling a tad fragile:
