Irish duo Aiden Gillen and Charlie Murphy have been added to an already stellar cast for Season Four of the hit BBC show Peaky Blinders.

According to Deadline, Gillen, who plays Petyr “Littlefinger” Baelish in Game of Thrones and Murphy, who featured in the wildly popular Irish TV series Love/Hate, have been cast in as yet unknown roles in the gangster drama set in Birmingham.

The return of Charlotte Riley as May Carleton, a former lover of Tommy Shelby, has also been confirmed.

News of the addition of Gillen and Murphy to the cast comes after it was revealed that Oscar winner Adrien Brody will also feature in the new season, while Tom Hardy will be reprising his role as Alfie Solomons.

Commenting on the new additions to the cast, creator of the show Stephen Knight said: “We have a dream team gathered for series four of Peaky Blinders, coming to us for love of the series which is great.

“Adrien Brody, Aidan Gillen and Charlie Murphy give us a wealth of talent to work with. And with Tom Hardy and Charlotte Riley returning, we couldn’t have hoped for more.”

Season Four of the show began shooting in Liverpool earlier this month and it promises to be a belter too, after it was revealed that it will begin with a Tommy receiving a mysterious letter on Christmas Eve that brings upon the realisation that the Peaky Blinders are in danger of annihilation.

“As the enemy closes in,” as recently reported by Deadline, “he flees his country house and returns to the streets of Small Heath, Birmingham, where a desperate fight for survival begins”.

We can’t wait.
