Nicole Richie lights hair on fire during birthday dinner
Things became heated for Nicole Ritchie during her 40th birthday celebrations when the reality star literally set her hair on fire.
In a video recently shared to her Instagram account, Nicole can be seen out celebrating at a restaurant with friends and smiling as she attempts to blow out the candles on her birthday cake - only for proceedings to go slightly awry.
As she bends over to blow the candles out, her guests become shocked as the ends of Nicole's hair suddenly catch fire.
The Simple Life star can then be seen screaming as her hair lights up and her friends frantically begin bashing her locks in an attempt to extinguish the flames.
"Well… so far 40 is [fire emoji]" joked Nicole, captioning the video of her hair ablaze.
Zooey Deschanel, Amy Schumer, Kelly Rowland and Ellen Pompeo were a few of the celebrity names to chime in with reactions to Nicole's hair disaster.
Former Destiny's Child member Kelly Rowland said: "My heart just dropped!!!!!"
Stand-up comic and Girls actor Amy Schumer added: "Oh my Gawwwd."
Nicole is most recognised for The Simple Life, the reality show she starred in with fellow socialite Paris Hilton. The show took a 'fish out of water' format, where the privileged duo would be tasked with doing everyday jobs - like working on a rural farm - and mined it for laughs.
Airing on Fox and eventually E!, the series ran from 2003 until 2007 and in more recent years, Nicole has made a move into acting. Her first major role was as as Portia Scott-Griffith in the sitcom Great News, which ran from 2017 until 2018.
Nicole is also a judge on the 2020 fashion design reality show Making The Cut, about breaking into the fashion industry, which also stars glamour model Heidi Klum.
