James Acaster has given an interview with series one Celebrity Traitors champion Alan Carr, detailing his time in the castle.
In an episode of the hit BBC reality show that aired last week, comedian Acaster admitted to being a traitor during a round table interrogation, in one of the most memorable scenes in franchise history.
Although this did ultimately see Acaster banished, according to the player, his termination from the game ought to have occurred much earlier on, owing to a conversation that was pulled from the final edit.
Speaking to Alan Carr on the 'Life's a Beach' podcast, the 41-year-old explained how he very nearly unveiled himself as a traitor to fellow player Jerry Hall, in a scene that was later cut from the programme.
He said: "They cut out my one, Jerry Hall went right up to me, face-to-face, and accused me of being a Traitor and she said, 'I think it's James!'
He continued: "I looked her in the eye and said, 'I think it might be me as well, Jerry!' And she went, 'You're very sneaky', and I said, 'I am sneaky, Jerry. It could be me!'
"And she went, 'Hm...' and went away. I went, 'Surely that's going in the edit'. No, nowhere to be seen!"
Aside from the pivotal conversation with Jerry Hall, Acaster says that large sections of his roundtable discussions, from throughout the series, were also cut.
He explained: "I actually said a lot more around that roundtable than the edit would suggest... I had it in my head that the traitors were the quiet ones at the roundtable so I went for it and was then like, 'Oh no!'
"Because most of the time, they want to keep how the traitors vote as a surprise, so they don't want hints I might go one way or the other.
"So, a lot of the time, what I said at the roundtables was cut out, so that what I vote is then a reveal."
