‘Part investigative thriller, part chilling horror film’

A new Netflix horror film has a perfect score of 100 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes.

Spanish production Desaparecer por Completo (Disappear Completely) premiered back in 2022 at Fantastic Fest, but this will be the first time it’s been released on a streaming platform.

Directed by Luis Javier Henaine, the film stars Harold Torres as photographer Santiago, a tabloid crime photographer who visits a crime scene to take pictures. However, shortly after he falls victim to a mysterious illness that makes him lose, one by one, his five senses.

Since its premier, Disappear Completely hasn’t had a huge amount of attention due to not being on a major streaming platform or having a major theatrical release.

But if the reviews are anything to go by, the popularity of this horror could be about to explode, with the film currently holding a score of 100 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes.

Among the positive reviews, Disappear Completely has been labelled a “powerful tale of regret and power”, a “fusion of Nightcrawler with witch doctors,” and a film that is “part investigative thriller, part chilling horror film.”

Here are some of the reviews the film has received.

Eye for Film: “Part investigative thriller, part chilling horror film, Disappear Completely is brilliantly directed.”

La Jornada: “Its adherence to contemporary horror conventions and its open, pessimistic ending certainly places Disappear Completely among the most valid and interesting recent contributions to the genre.”

Father Son Holy Gore: “Disappear Completely is an unnerving supernatural horror story that brings the morality of our everyday world into question when it comes to the pop culture obsession with true crime.”

The Hollywood News: “A fusion of Nightcrawler with witch doctors, Disappear Completely straddles both the old and new world.”

AIPT: “Henaine’s movie is a relatively grounded one that is unafraid to work in mysticism and tradition. The entire runtime is spent subverting expectations. The final moments are the culmination of a powerful tale of regret and power.”

Disappear Completely will be available to stream on Netflix in the UK and Ireland from April 12.
