Johnny Depp holds orphaned badger

Johnny Depp continues to have a lovely time in the UK

Johnny Depp visited an animal sanctuary in Kent shortly before it was revealed he had won his multi-million dollar defamation case against Amber Heard.

The actor was pictured cradling an orphaned badger, named Freddie, as he visited the centre with Jeff Beck and his wife Sandra.

Beck is a patron of the wildlife centre and him and Depp had been in the area after performing at the Royal Albert Hall, so they decided to pay the rescue centre a visit.

Sharing a photo of Depp and Freddie on Facebook, Folly Wildlife Rescue wrote: “’What an incredible afternoon it was for our staff and volunteers, as he toured the hospital’s care and vet units.”

The caption continued: “Johnny was incredibly complementary and in his own words ‘blown away’ by what he saw.

“To top the visit off, we even allowed him the rare privilege of briefly holding Freddie (as in Mercury!) one of the many orphaned badger cubs we’re currently hand rearing – and I think it’s fair to say he was bowled over by the whole experience!”

The Pirates of the Caribbean star won his defamation case against Amber Heard on Wednesday, after he sued his ex-wife for $50 million over an op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post in 2018, in which she identified as a “public figure representing domestic abuse.”

Depp was not named, but argued that there was an implication he was the abuser.

The jury awarded Depp $10 million in compensatory damages related to lost jobs and career opportunities and $5 million in punitive damages. The punitive damages payment was later reduced to $350,000 as that is Virginia’s legal limit.

The visit to the animal centre is yet another activity Depp has participated in during his time in the UK touring with Jeff Beck.

As the jury was returning to the Fairfax County Courthouse on Wednesday evening, Depp was spotted in a Newcastle pub, with other pictures showing him hanging out with Sam Fender.

And on Thursday evening he performed in Gateshead to the delight of fans, after shows in London and Sheffield.
