Jada Pinkett Smith admits she had to lower her sex expectations of Will Smith

The couple are in an open relationship

Jada Pinkett Smith has said she should expect less of her husband Will Smith when it comes to gettin’ jiggy with it in the bedroom.

Speaking on her Facebook show podcast Red Table Talk, Jada explained how she expects Will to “read her mind,” which she calls a “huge pitfall.”

“It’s like, ‘Well, if you love me, you should know. If you love me, you should read my mind.’ That’s a huge pitfall,” she explained.

“We started in this at a very young age, you know, 22 years old,” she added. “That’s why the accountability part really hit for me because I think you expect your partner to know, especially when it comes to sex.”

Jada and Will have built a reputation around speaking publicly about their marriage and have previously revealed they are in an open marriage.

Jada dated singer August Alsina when her and Will were on a break and Will has spoken about how the couple ask for each other’s permission before getting into a relationship with someone else.

Speaking on Table Talk in 2020, Jada confirmed her relationship with August was “around four years ago.”

It followed the couple’s marriage difficulties, which they discussed on the same episode of Red Table Talk in July 2020.

Speaking of her relationship with August, Jada said: “I just wanted to feel good… It had been so long since I had felt good.”

However, during the same recording Jada acknowledged her and Will are back in a healthy relationship with “unconditional love.”

Will has revealed more about the couple’s relationship in excerpts from his forthcoming autobiography, entitled Will. “We have given each other trust and freedom, with the belief that everybody has to find their own way. And marriage for us can’t be a prison,” he writes.

Will and Jada married in 1997 and met on the set of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air in 1990 when Jada was auditioning for the role of Lisa, Will’s girlfriend on the show, which eventually went to another actor, Nia Long.

They have two children together, model and actor Jaden Smith, who was born in 1998 and daughter Willow Smith, born in 2000.
