Dwayne Johnson has proved he’s got one of the biggest hearts in Hollywood – yet again.
The Rock gifted a brand new home to UFC star Themba Gorimbo, who had just $7.49 (£5.89) to his name was sleeping in the gym.
The Fast and Furious star, and former WWE wrestler, surprised Gorimbo at his gym in Miami, where he’d been living since moving from his native Zimbabwe to pursue his MMA career.
Johnson had heard about the fighter’s financial struggles so tagged in to help.
Before his first UFC victory in May, Gorimbo could barely afford a meal from McDonald’s.
Gorimbo’s struggles reminded Johnson of his own humble beginning, before he made it in wrestling, then cracked Hollywood.
So he bought him and his family a home – just like he did, his mum, in June last year.
Johnson tweeted a video of his grand gesture on Thursday, after it has initially been reported last week.
After meeting Gorimbo for the first time, Johnson checked out the fighter’s living arrangements – the gym – and heard him list “my reasons” for entering the octagon, which included fighting for his village, hope and change.
Johnson then told him they were going to meet a friend of his – who doesn’t actually exist.
When Gorimbo arrived at the house, which he believed was owned by Johnson’s friend, he spotted pictures of his family there.
Surprise!
Johnson told the fighter: “So Themba, I don’t know anybody who lives here. I wanted to come here, I wanted to bring you here, I wanted to look you in the eye and I wanted to tell you, welcome home.”
He then handed Gorimbo the keys and the pair embraced.
Johnson added: “Like I said, man, I was so moved by your story.
“And when I found out you were sleeping on the couch in the gym – now there’s no more couch sleeping, this is your house. Welcome home.”
Uploading the 10-minute long video to his Twitter, which you can watch below, Johnson wrote: “Welcome home @TheAnswerMMA. You and your family enjoy your new house brother. Lights are on. Bills are paid.
“Keep your ‘My Reason’ list close, keep taking care of your people and I’m honoured to play a very, very small role in your $7 bucks journey.
“$7 bucks. I’ve been there too. Got your back brother. Let’s get to work on that dream of becoming @ufc champion one day. Welcome home ~ DJ. ps – enjoy your Cheetos and alligators.”
