Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson took to Instagram to reveal the heartwarming moment where he showed his mum the brand new home he bought for her as a surprise present.
In a short video clip posted to social media yesterday, the 50-year-old actor and former wrestler can be seen bringing his mum, 73-year-old Ata Johnson, to tears as she steps inside the bespoke-build home that her son gifted her.
“Love you mom and surprise!” he said, kicking off a lengthy caption that explained why he had bought his mum this special new house.

“When I was a little boy, I hated when my mom would cry ~ these days, I’ll happily take her tears of joy,” he continued.
“I surprised my mom and bought her a new home. Took me and my design team 8 weeks to get it ready, where she could walk thru her front door for the very first time and everything she saw was brand new and a total surprise.
“I’ve been lucky enough to have bought her a few homes over the years, but this one is special as she’s told me over and over these past few years, “After a lifetime of traveling, I want this home to be my last. Thats my dream.””
In the video clip – which is soundtracked by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole’s touching rendition of “Somewhere Over The Rainbow”, Johnson’s mother can be seen looking rather taken aback before entering through the building’s lush black doors and exploring her new home.
Johnson’s mother appears clearly moved whilst walking through her spacious new home which comes complete with family photograph’s on the wall.
“Mom, there’s no greater feeling than to make you happy ~ welcome home” added Johnson.
“I always say, if you got a good mom then you got a shot at becoming a good, caring human being. Let’s all give our mamas a big grateful squeeze this weekend and make ‘em happy.”
In a second video posted a few hours later, Johnson’s mother can be seen discovering a room in the house that contains vintage ukuleles and newly unearthed photographs of her ancestors which she hasn’t seen since she was a child.

“Brought my mom into her new family room where we placed her vintage ukuleles ? up on the wall and I was able to unearth pictures of our ancestors that she hasn’t seen since she was a child growing up in Samoa,” Johnson explained in the video’s caption.
“She misses her mom and dad. I miss them too.
“Thank you God for blessing me with a little bit of work ethic to make stuff like this happen.
“Enjoy your new home mom!!”
Meanwhile, people in the comment section could hardly contain their emotions at this act of parental appreciation.
“Oh my heart. This is sooo wonderful” said one.
“This is incredible bro” said another.
Not a dry eye in the house.
