Heartbroken fans are struggling to watch the fallout from the impactful storyline
David Platt’s Coronation Street storyline has been difficult viewing for fans of the soap.
After a brutal sexual assault that left Platt, played by Jack Shepherd, covered in bruises and crying on the floor of his shower, he is now struggling with the possibility that he may have HIV.
In scenes that were praised for tactfully confronting such sensitive subject matter, Josh Tucker drugged David and then raped him – meaning Platt did not know whether Tucker had used a condom.
Visiting an STI clinic under an alias, he choked during a consultation with a nurse and said: “I’m sorry I can’t do this. It’s fine I’m fine, just sorry for wasting your time.”
Returning home David struggled to have sex with his girlfriend, Shona, still traumatised from the attack.
Corrie fans were resoundingly heartbroken.
