The scene saw Josh - the garage's new mechanic and personal trainer - organising a charity boxing event in memory of Luke Bratton, but audiences were unsettled by the sight of David with the man who they know is eventually going to assault him.
Although the conversation between the two seemed friendly at first, fans were struggling to watch knowing what was to come in later episodes.
The fact that the characters, played by Ryan Clayton and Jack P Shepherd, later had a small argument over the upcoming boxing fundraiser certainly didn't help settle nerves.
Viewers of Corrie have been aware of the upcoming storyline for a while, after ITV revealed that it would be tackling the difficult topic of male sexual assault for the first time in the show's 57-year lifespan.
The plot will see the two men go for a casual drink, before the evening takes a more sinister turn.
Producers of the show, however, have assured fans that there will be nothing too explicit, with the focus instead on the aftermath of the abduction and in particular the consequent guilt and shame that David suffers.
Clayton's creepy turn as the new arrival seems to have ensured that future scenes between the two will be almost too ominous to bear.
