Star Wars characters accidentally published in Saudi Arabian school text book

Yoda was apparently at a 1945 UN charter signing

Did you find history pretty boring at school?

Would it have livened things up if they had injected some Star Wars characters into the dusty old book? Ok, they would have been completely inaccurate, but does that really matter?

Well, that appears to have happened, in Saudi Arabia at least. Images of started circulating online from a high school social studies text book in the country, where none other than Yoda appears to have been photoshopped next to King Faisal as he signed the 1945 United Nations Charter.

Just in case you are a bit rusty on post-war Saudi history, no, Yoda was not actually there. He is a fictional character.

I turns out the image is the work of artist Abdullah Al Shehri, who is known for putting pop culture characters into real-life historical photos. He told the New York Times:

I am the one who designed it, but I am not the one who put it in the book

How it turned up in the book remains a mystery.
