Chelsea are set to sign another highly-rated talent

Talented Brazilian youngster Andrey Santos was involved in a hilarious practical joke ahead of his prospective move to Chelsea.

The 18-year-old is one of Brazil’s most highly-regarded young talents and is on the verge of completing a move from Vasco da Gama to the Blues.

Having been capped at Under-20 level for his country, Santos has been pivotal in guiding his side to a fourth place finish, scoring eight goals in 37 games for his club.

However his teammates aren’t as keen on seeing him leave and in a bid to keep him at the club, tied him up so that he would miss his flight to London to complete the move.

Santos is likely to the first of a host of signings as Graham Potter looks to reinvigorate his midfield as Jorginho and N’Golo Kanté both look set to depart at the end of the season.

Should the deal go through, Santos is likely to play a back-up role to Kanté before becoming more of a key player from the start of the 2023-24 season.

Other names linked with a move to Stamford Bridge also include the World Cup’s Young Player of the Tournament, Enzo Fernandez, but are expected to face tough competition for his signature.

Chelsea have made one addition already, signing David Datro Fofana from Molde FK ahead of the January window as Potter looks to bring down the age of the squad.

Under the ownership of Todd Boehly there has been an emphasis on bringing in younger players to look ahead to the future. In the summer, Carney Chukwuemeka from Aston Villa, Cesare Casadei from Inter Milan, Gabriel Slonina from Chicago Fire and Omari Hutchinson from Arsenal all joined.
