The one-upmanship continues

Jeff Bezos has offered some advice to fellow billionaire Elon Musk who is looking to build a homeless shelter in Twitter’s HQ.

Musk revealed his 9.2 per cent stake in Twitter last week, a move that caused share purchasing to spike, and has now turned his attention to the platform’s headquarters.

“Convert Twitter SF HQ to homeless shelter since no one turns up anyway,” Musk wrote to his 80m Twitter followers alongside a poll. Ninty one per cent voted yes.

Bezos quote tweeted his frenemy, writing: “Or do portion. Worked out great and makes it easy for employees who want to volunteer.” Bezos also attached an article from Geek Wire from 2020 entitled: ‘Inside Amazon’s new 8-floor family homeless shelter attached to its Seattle HQ.’

Musk replied, “Great idea,” but has since deleted his initial tweet.

The post received a great deal of attention, with one person rightly pointing out: “I love seeing two men that could single-handedly end homelessness joke about turning Twitter hq into a homeless shelter.”

“Wow something @JeffBezos & @elonmusk agree on. Must be a great idea,” another wrote.

Despite initial reports, Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal has since confirmed Musk would not be joining Twitter’s board. “Elon shared that same morning that he will no longer be joining the board,” he wrote. In a separate Tweet, the CEO also shared a lengthy statement addressing Twitter staff.

After the announcement, premarket trading Monday revealed that Twitter’s share price fell as a result, reports NBC.
