After a wet bank holiday weekend, weather maps indicate that temperatures are set to climb again in the UK, reaching the mid-20s in some areas of the country with a heatwave potentially on the way.
While temperatures have dipped recently, and the downpour forced many Brits to stay inside over the recent bank holiday, it appears that by the end of the week, we can expect a return to warmer and sunnier conditions, with temperatures hitting the mid-20s in parts of the UK.
Maps from Ventusky are starting to show orange hues again by Saturday, May 31, with the darkest shade of orange appearing in the southeast, where the highest temperatures are expected.
However, further showers are forecast in the north over the next few days. While the south will experience more scattered showers alongside rising temperatures.
Even though temperatures are set to rise in the south of England by the end of the week, BBC weather forecaster Ben Reich does point out that: "For Friday many areas will see some dry weather and some spells of sunshine but it could well be that our next weather system starts to approach bringing some cloud and some rain in from the West."
“It could be a warm feeling day on Friday with temperatures of 17C to 24C. High pressure tries to hold on across the south and the southeast, at the same time low pressure tries to return from the northwest.
This gives quite a messy weather forecast for Saturday, there will be some showers or longer spells of rain especially up towards the north and west, and further south and east a better chance that we will stay dry for much of the time and in the sunshine still feeling warm 16C to 24C.”
Fortunately that means summer hasn't already come and gone early.
