Brits could soon find themselves facing yet another heatwave as the UK may see its hottest day ever.

According to the Met Office, another heatwave is on the cards as temperatures next week could hit 41C.

This week temperatures should remain “pleasant” for most, according to Met Office forecaster Neil Armstrong, as they are like to remain in the low to mid-20s.

Just days earlier, a record-breaking heatwave caused the warmest June day ever, at 37.7C.

That said, more records might get broken next week as per the GFS weather model.

The all-time record in Britain was just a few years ago

In the UK, the current all-time temperature record is 40.3C which was reached during the heatwave of July 2022.

However, Brits could just be days away from seeing 41C, new data has now shown.

Across much of southern, eastern and central England, GFS model maps show that highs of 35C to 36C are probable, while highs of 33C are possible for north of Yorkshire, with 31C coming in South Wales.

Next Tuesday is when all hell could break loose as temperatures could reach levels not seen before.

Highs of 40C and 41C from Yorkshire down to London and across the east of the country are shown on the maps.

On Wednesday is when conditions could cool off while temperatures are predicted peaking at 35C in the south-east, the GFS weather model shows.

As many as 17 counties – all of which in England – could see temperatures of 40C or more, as per the GFS model.

A return to heatwave conditions is looking “increasingly likely”, the Met Office said, as we head towards next week.

The national weather agency however adds that, at the moment, the chance of “extreme high temperatures” like we saw last week remains low.
