The Spanish holiday spot shaken by ongoing earthquake

The Spanish City of Granada has been hit by a 4.9 magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale, shaking the city and causing panic as a building collapses.

The quake has been felt in neighboring provinces, including other holiday hotspots in the province of Almeria and the city of Malaga.

This comes following another Granada earthquake that happened Saturday, recorded at a 5.2 magnitude.

The tremor happened around 10:30 local time, leaving a trail of destruction in the southern Spanish city.

Residents and holiday goers have felt the shaking in the walls and ceilings as many fled their residence and hotels.

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers, only 2 kilometers from Granada and approximately 130 kilometers north of Malaga.

No tsunami warning was issued for the affected areas. However, it is reported a child is among several to have been injured by the earthquake.

As per local outlet Granada Hoy, at least three people are thought to have been injured, as confirmed by The First Vice President Antonio Sanz.

A local resident told The Olive Press: "I am still shaking, I have guitars pinned to my wall and I could see them swinging.

“My sofa moved a couple of inches, the coffee table too.

“I would say it lasted 7-8 seconds, we’re now experiencing aftershocks but they are weak."
