The cause of death has not yet been confirmed

Former Neighbours star Miranda Fryer has sadly passed away aged just 34.

Posting the tragic news to her Facebook page, brother Jeremy confirmed that Fryer died “peacefully” on Thursday, January 6, adding that while they do not currently know the cause of death, “it looks like her heart failed during her sleep.”

The actress played Sky Mangel, daughter of characters Joe and Kerry, for three years on the iconic Australian sitcom, being brought on in 1989 when she was just 18 months old and becoming the first child actress ever contracted to the show.

The role was eventually recast for a teenage actress further down the line as Fryer went on to leave the industry at a young age and pursue a different career.

She recently completed a Nursing degree, earning a post-graduate position at Monash Hospital in the Neuroscience department and was reportedly contemplating a Masters degree in the field. She also married her long time fiancé, Arthur Pothitis, in November 2020.

In a statement given to TV Tonight, her family explained how the two “soulmates” were looking to “start their family, when one day last week she went to sleep and never woke up. We do not know why.

“She had had some health issues with her heart, maybe her beautiful persona was just too good for this world of ours. We, who all loved her so much, shall treasure the memories she has left us with and mourn our loss forever.

“A beautiful child, stunning teenager, beautiful inside, and out… a woman, with so much love and happiness given and received. So many friends, so much still to offer this world, gone.”

Her brother wrote, simply: “MJ was a huge personality, it’s going to be a different world without her.”

Rest in peace.
