Netflix has just added a star-studded drama earning Succession comparisons

Stephen Porzio

For those seeking to fill the void Succession left, this show may fit the bill.

Netflix has just added A Man in Full, a new six-part series starring Jeff Daniels (Dumb and Dumber, The Newsroom) that is earning comparisons to Succession.

An adaptation of the novel of the same name by Tom Wolfe (The Bonfire of the Vanities, The Right Stuff), the show sees Daniels play Charlie Croker, a real estate mogul in Atlanta facing sudden bankruptcy.

As his political and business interests collide amid the crisis, Charlie seeks to defend his empire from those attempting to capitalise off of his fall from grace.

Created by David E. Kelley (Big Little Lies, The Undoing), the series is directed by Regina King (One Night in Miami) and Thomas Schlamme (The West Wing).

Alongside Daniels, its cast also features Hollywood stars Diane Lane (Unfaithful) and Lucy Liu (Charlie’s Angels), as well as recognisable faces like Aml Ameen (I May Destroy You), Bill Camp (The Queen’s Gambit), Sarah Jones (For All Mankind), Tom Pelphrey (Ozark) and William Jackson Harper (The Good Place).

And given the show’s impressive talent both onscreen and off, as well as its satirical portrait of the rich and its blend of comedy and drama, A Man in Full has been likened to HBO’s hit drama Succession which wrapped up this month last year.

You can read a sample of the positive reviews for the new Netflix series right here:

Arizona Republic: “A Man in Full isn’t the brutal Tom Wolfe novel it’s based on. But it’s pretty dang good.”

Chicago Sun-Times: “A Man in Full doesn’t quite match the Shakespearean gravitas of Succession or the outlandish spectacle of Billions. But it’s well-crafted pop entertainment about people who are mostly awful (with a few notable exceptions)… great fun to watch.”

Deadline: “Jeff Daniels and Diane Lane rarely put in anything less than stellar performances, but the Emmy winner and Oscar nominee are rarely as good as they are in Netflix‘s adaptation of Tom Wolfe‘s A Man in Full.”

The Guardian: “Skin-crawling Trump satire is a worthy Succession replacement.”

A Man in Full is streaming on Netflix right now.
