Bags are being packed as we speak
Air travel around Europe is one of life’s greatest gifts to the world, being so well interconnected and cheap when you look in the right places.
Sure, there are always a few caveats like the skyrocketing fares in school holidays, delayed flights and the knee-squashing lack of legroom, however compared to places like the USA, we have it good.
And, for savvy globetrotters, flights could be about to get even cheaper with a new discount uncovered by the money saving expert Martin Lewis which will allow people to travel abroad for less than a pint of beer.
The offer comes from travel booking site, Trip.com who are proposing a £10 discount on any flight booked though its flight-finding app on customers’ first three flights.
Good stuff, but this is where Lewis and his money saving magic comes in as he proposes that people pair this discount up with the app’s ‘low fare finder’ with the routes and dates you want.
From here watch the airfares tumble, as the booking site throws out outrageous possibilities such as Portugal and Croatia for £4 and Greece for £5.
Most of these super cheap prices apply to September and October only, while there are still a handful available in November.
One of the best things about this deal is that, even though the fares are for one way flights, the discount can also be used on a return flight making some return trips potentially very good value.
Some of the trips identified by Martin Lewis include, as of 3 September, include:
Gatwick to Faro in Portugal, one way – £4
Faro to Gatwick, one way – £7
Luton to Split in Croatia, one way – £4
Split to Luton, one way – £7
Gatwick to Corfu in Greece, one way – £5
Corfu to Gatwick, one way – £20
It is important to note, such is the case with air travel in the 21st century, that these fares do not include luggage or any other added extras.
However, if you’re willing to live out of a backpack for a few days, then you could be quids in.
Most of these flights are with EasyJet, Wizz Air and Turkish airline Pegasus.

One cheap destination is Tallinn, in Estonia, being hailed for its £16 flights and £3.80 pints which has been described as being ‘like in a Disney film.’
Meanwhile Polish gem Krakow has been described as ‘looking straight out of a fairytale’ and is accessible with only £20 flights.
Only last month Wizz Air released an ‘all you can fly’ subscription giving members unlimited air travel starting from £450 per year and has already sold out.
One thing is for sure when hoping on a plane in Europe, you’re probably paying less than you would for a local train ticket.
