The Watford midfielder's excuse was that he was "running late for a job" on the M25 in December last year.

30-year-old Capoue pled guilty in March after police followed his black Mercedes G63 for more than two miles and clocked him travelling at a top speed of 116mph on the 70mph speed limit motorway.

Stevenage Magistrate's Court heard that Capoue previously received a 28-day driving ban and £1,000 fine for going 53mph in a 30mph zone in February 2017.

Capoue did not attend court, citing an "important" training session and submitting a letter of apology via his defence. "He had tried to negotiate his way out of going to that training but it was not possible," Kwaku Awuku-Asabre told magistrates.
