Dopey suspect filmed throwing cannabis stash out window police are standing in front of

Steve Hopkins

Talk about being caught red-handed

A dopey suspected drug dealer has been filmed throwing thousands of pounds of cannabis out of a window police were standing underneath.

In the video, a shirtless man can be seen tipping a box of buds from his flat window in the Erdington area of Birmingham on Monday as stunned officers begin collecting it in evidence bags with a dustpan and brush as it piles up on the pavement.

Police estimated the 20kg harvest to be worth around £6,000.

A 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with the intent to supply cannabis following a raid at the address above Swag Emporium on Orphanage Road.

The video was obtained by Birmz Is Grime and has been viewed almost 60,000 since it was uploaded to social media.

Instagram users were quick to point out the fitting slogan of the store the man lived above: ‘High fashion for the high street’.

As piles of cannabis rain down to the ground from the window, a man recording the footage says: “This geezer has got ounces and he’s throwing them out the window.

“How much has he got? What the f**k. That stinks that does, you know. Man’s dropped a box out the window. This is what my morning has consisted of, watching some geezer’s door get beat off.

“All of his weed is across the floor. He threw a box straight out of the window.”

At one point another man, possibly a plained-clothed police officer, tells the suspect: “You’re being filmed doing it, so this is pointless.”

Commenting on the footage on Instagram, one woman said: “Doin illegal activities on top of a shop called swag is jus askin 4 trouble.”

Another added: “Not really the best idea. He must have just panicked, those feds must not have believed what they were watching. didn’t need to lift a finger.”

A third person put: “Imagine having a drugs den above a shop boasting about high fashion, lol.”

Another wrote: “That’s pretty damning evidence right there landing right into their laps. What was he thinking?”

A West Midlands Police spokesman said a crossbow and three imitation guns were also found at the arrested man’s flat, along with 24 cannabis plants, a large volume of suspected cannabis oil, and other items.

The man remains in custody, the spokesperson said.
