David Beckham reveals the only place on earth where nobody recognises him

'I would be invisible for the day', says the former Manchester United and Real Madrid man. Presumably because everywhere the global icon goes, he gets recognised by legions of fans and admirers. Everywhere that is, except one corner of Planet Earth where nobody knew who the hell he was. Just another 40-year-old skinny white bloke, with exceptional hair and teeth. Beckham said: "The Amazon was the only part of the world where I've actually not been recognised. The tribe where we visited didn't even know what football was. That kind of gave me a bit of a boost." Luckily for him, 99% of the known world knows exactly who he is - and he has been able to use his celebrity superpowers for good. "Fortunately people know me as a footballer and for the last 22 years, I have been successful on the field. But my life has never just been about the football ... There's no way people can underestimate the power of what I've achieved and why I'm sitting here now [with UNICEF]. "This is why what I've done over the last 22 years has been important, not just on the field but off it too. It has opened doors."
