These traditional baby names are set to become ‘extinct’ because parents won’t use them

Is your name about to become extinct?

Rich Cooper

Every grown man called Nigel was once a baby called Nigel.

It’s hard to imagine, but logically it must have happened, unless every Nigel has changed their name by deed poll for some ungodly reason.

Times change and so do tastes. It seems that nowadays no one wants to call their baby Nigel, because according to BabyCentre, Nigel and 35 other baby names are in danger of becoming extinct.

According to their database, Metro reports, new parents aren’t registering babies with these names.

Obviously BabyCentre is not the be-all and end-all when it comes to census taking, but the fact that none of their users are bringing up children with these names certainly indicates that they’re not as popular as they used to be.

Here’s the full list of names. Is yours on there?
