An image of a newborn hugging his sick brother has broken hearts everywhere

Sadly, Mason's twin brother Hawk passed away days later.

So very sad.

The below image of Mason Buchmeyer hugging his sick brother Hawk touched the hearts of so many but sadly, the little boy has since passed away.

The twins were born on August 18th and although Mason was born healthy, their parents were told that Hawk that a rare congenital condition named Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia.

A birth defect of the diaphragm meant that Hawk struggled from the very beginning.

Their parents decided to set up a Facebook page, Mason & Hawk, which was originally meant to update family and friends but the story, and accompanying photos, quickly went viral.

The below photo, taken when the boys were only 11 days old, has resonated with so many.

Posting about the image, Brandy Guettler and Tommy Buchmeyer said:

“This picture was taken 11 days after they were born, it’s the first time they have ever touched and as soon as Mason felt Hawk he reached out for his arm and smiled this big,” they wrote.

“We thought it was time for everyone pulling for our boy to see this picture”.

The picture was shared on September 2nd and sadly, Hawk passed away on September 7th with his parents voicing their heartbreak on the Facebook page dedicated to their twin boys.
