It’s one of the biggest events on the wrestling calendar.
Although not as big as Wrestlemania, the Royal Rumble is arguably the most exciting event that WWE have to offer. The anticipation when that buzzer goes off is a sensation that’s hard to replicate.
Tonight’s Rumble will be special for several reasons: it will be the first to host the same event featuring 30 female superstars and it could also feature the return of the Undertaker.
Many superstars have made unexpected returns to the ring in Royal Rumbles – John Cena’s shock return in 2008 was unforgettable.
According to Dave Meltzer on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Live, The Undertaker could make a surprise appearance in the men’s Royal Rumble match tonight.
He could not confirm or deny, and was surprised that WWE had not used it as the selling point for the event. But his colleague raised the point that the company promote the magnitude of the event, not the superstars on show, to sell their pay-per-view events.
If the Undertaker does return tonight, it would send shockwaves through the wrestling universe. It would be a universally welcome decision for the phenom to feature tonight.
We will have to wait and see.
