John Oliver is truly the hero we need right now.
The weather is a bit rubbish, the football is a bit confusing, and this week is set to be dominated by the EU Referendum – perhaps the biggest political decision of our lives.
We could all do with a breather and a bit of a laugh.
Thankfully, John Oliver was at hand this weekend with another delightful skewering on his HBO show Last Week Tonight with John Oliver… and this time he took on the confusing mess that is Brexit.
Yes, John Oliver has somehow done the impossible and made Brexit funny.
The British comedian can always be relied on to make sense of things when they start to seem absurd and his new video is no different.
Making an effort to explain the upcoming referendum to Americans, Oliver delivered a 15 minute segment, outlining all the major players and goings on before explaining why he believes the UK should vote Remain come Thursday 23:
“If the UK stays it can reap all the benefits while still being a total dick about everything. That’s the British way.”
Regardless of your views on the EU Referendum, we can agree that we’re in serious supply of some laughs on the topic, and with Oliver closing his segment with a cheeky barbershop quartet song and dance, it’s definitely worth a watch.
