This is how much the families on Gogglebox get paid and what their working hours are

It’s certainly not what we thought.

Gogglebox has been going since 2013 now, and in the age of short-lived telly series, that’s a true testament to its popularity. We never thought watching people watching television on the television could be quite so much fun.

If you’ve ever wondered about doing it yourself, the money is probably not a good enough reason to star on the show.

New reports suggest that each family get a monthly allowance of £1500 to share between them at their discretion.

In one sense sitting around watching TV for money seems like a good set-up but on the other hand, they are expected to commit to 12 hours a week of filming across two six-hour shifts.

Another perk of the job however, is the celebrity status you get for literally sitting on your couch.

Stars like Steph and Dom have gone on to film a spin-off show about their B&B while perhaps the most successful member of the show Scarlett Moffat has a best-selling biography, a fitness DVD and is currently starring on I’m a Celebrity on ITV.

So if you’re looking to get rich from Gogglebox, it probably won’t happen right away, but the familiarity of your face could get you a long way.
