There’s a spin-off to The Big Bang Theory on the way

Exciting news for BBT fans

Thankfully, it’ll focus on the early years of the show’s only truly funny character.

CBS is in negotiations for a spin-off to The Big Bang Theory, focusing on the early life of Sheldon Cooper.

The show would be a single camera comedy – similar, presumably, to Peep Show – focusing on the 12-year-old Sheldon in Texas.

Jim Parsons, who plays the role of Sheldon as an adult, is producing the spin-off with co-creator and executive producer Chuck Lorre.

While a script for the show, which will be called Sheldon, has yet to be written, a pilot episode has been ordered and it is widely felt that a full series is a formality.

The Big Bang Theory has been running for ten years and remains the biggest show on American television.

The current deal with CBS and Warner Bros. runs out at the end of the present series, with Parsons, Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco yet to agree deals to stay on as the show’s central trio.
