Ocsars are coming as Spielberg, Streep and Hanks finally work together on The Post

Based on the epic true story of a conspiracy that spanned decades.

“If we don’t publish, we lose. America loses.”

Plot’s it all about? This movie literally could not be more topical if it tried. Based on the true story of America’s first female newspaper publisher going head-to-head with the government as she attempts to print a series of top-secret, leaked documents in The Washington Post, as they will unveil a massive conspiracy about the Vietnam War.

While Spielberg is also working on a massive blockbuster – Ready Player One is due out on 30 March, check out that trailer here – he has been known to work on two completely opposing genre movies at once, having famously been working on the SFX for Jurassic Park while shooting Schindler’s List, and the same again with The Lost World as he worked on Amistad, and more recently when he doubled up on War Of The Worlds and Munich.

This time he’s got a hugely impressive cast, with actors from the best TV shows around including Breaking Bad, The West Wing, Community, Arrested Development, Better Call Saul, The Leftovers, American Horror Story and more, all working with Streep (a first for Spielberg) and Hanks (who has also never shared the screen with Streep before).

Essentially, this looks like an absolute certainty when it comes to the Oscar race in early 2018, as it deals with everything from an untrustworthy government to sexism in the work place.

Plus, we’re pretty sure it is mandatory anyways that Streep gets nominated at least once a year.

Starring: Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, Alison Brie, Sarah Paulson, Carrie Coon, Bruce Greenwood, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jesse Plemons, Bradley Whitford, David Cross and Bob Odenkirk.

Directed by: Steven Spielberg
