Next 007 contenders reportedly head to London

Finding the next James Bond is no small mission, but the search for cinema’s most famous secret agent may finally be moving into its next phase.

A select group of actors are reportedly heading to London this weekend to prove they have what it takes to wear the tuxedo and save the day.

Among the names linked to the screen tests are Jack Lowden, best known for Slow Horses, Callum Turner, who recently appeared in One Night Only, and Challengers star Josh O’Connor.

The exact shortlist remains under wraps, though, and reports disagree on how many hopefuls are involved. Some sources put the number at three, while others suggest as many as five actors are still in contention.

Two familiar names missing from latest Bond auditions

The auditions were originally scheduled for earlier this month, but clashes in the finalists’ diaries reportedly forced a delay until the end of October.

The tests could finish next week, but that does not mean audiences will find out who has secured the licence to kill straight away.

Reports suggest a decision could arrive before the end of the year, although no official announcement date has been set.

Meanwhile, a couple of previously rumoured contenders may already be out of the running.

Jack O’Connell, who appeared in Sinners, and Jacob Elordi were both mentioned during the speculation, but sources now suggest neither is taking part in the current round of auditions.

Amazon MGM stays tight-lipped over Bond casting

The screen tests are expected to cover three areas: stunt work, on-camera presence and dialogue, giving the team a chance to assess how each actor might handle the demands of the role.

Amazon MGM Studios has declined to comment on the latest reports, pointing back to its earlier statement that it will share news with Bond fans when the time is right.

Whoever eventually lands the part will lead a new film directed by Denis Villeneuve, the filmmaker behind Dune.

Amy Pascal and David Heyman are producing and overseeing the franchise for Amazon MGM Studios, which acquired the creative rights from the Broccoli family in February 2025.
