RIP

Eric Bauza, whose voice brought Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck to life for a new generation of Looney Tunes fans, has died at the age of 46.

News of his death was shared by his family in an Instagram statement. They said the actor had died unexpectedly at home as a result of cardiovascular disease, describing him as the modern voice behind two of the franchise’s most recognisable characters.

Further details are expected to be released later.

Warner Bros has also paid tribute to Bauza, remembering him for the impact he had on audiences and the animation industry.

Channing Dungey, chairman and chief executive of Warner Bros Television Group and Warner Bros, said his performances had brought “joy and laughter to millions around the world”.

Dungey also reflected on the legacy Bauza helped preserve, noting that he had followed “in the footsteps of giants like Mel Blanc”. The company’s tribute described him as “a treasured part of our animation family”.

Bauza leaves behind hundreds of animation credits

For Bauza, taking on the responsibility of voicing characters with such a long history was a privilege.

He had previously described continuing the “legendary legacy” of Looney Tunes as one of the greatest honours of his life.

His work with Warner Bros Animation stretched across more than 15 years, earning him over 400 credits.

While Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck were among his best-known roles, his voice work also included villains in Scooby-Doo productions and Luke Skywalker in the Lego Star Wars series.

Bauza’s performances will continue to reach audiences after his death, with two of his final screen roles still awaiting release.

He voiced Button Wutton and Sarangay in DreamWorks’ upcoming animated film Forgotten Island.
