Sacha Baron Cohen is reportedly bringing back Ali G.
The actor and comedian, Variety reports, is reprising the character that helped catapult him to fame in the late 1990s.
The publication said Baron Cohen has been working on a stand-up tour in which Ali G will make an appearance.
A source close to Baron Cohen denied to Variety that a new movie was in the works and is abiding by strike rules.
“As a SAG and WGA member he is supporting the ongoing strike alongside his fellow writers and actors,” the source told Variety.
If the Ali G characters returns, it won't be the first time.
Baron Cohen resurrected the Staines-based rapper in 2021 during a secret gig at The Comedy Store in Sydney, Australia.
At the time, the performer said he wanted to get on stage and “muck around and see what Ali G would be like with a crowd." He added that it was "really good fun.”
Ali G celebrates his 25th anniversary this year.
Baron Cohen first appeared as the iconic comedy character in 1998 on a sketch sLil Tay announces she is alive amid death ‘hoax’eries called “The 11 O’Clock Show,” which was broadcast on Channel 4. His skits saw him conducting humorous and, often absurd, interviews with public figures including politicians and judges.
That launched 'Da Ali G Show' in the early 2000s. From there Baron Cohen introduced a number of new characters, including Borat, and Bruno.
