Ali G celebrates his 25th anniversary this year
Sacha Baron Cohen is reportedly bringing back Ali G.
The actor and comedian, Variety reports, is reprising the character that helped catapult him to fame in the late 1990s.
The publication said Baron Cohen has been working on a stand-up tour in which Ali G will make an appearance.
A source close to Baron Cohen denied to Variety that a new movie was in the works and is abiding by strike rules.
“As a SAG and WGA member he is supporting the ongoing strike alongside his fellow writers and actors,” the source told Variety.
If the Ali G characters returns, it won’t be the first time.
Baron Cohen resurrected the Staines-based rapper in 2021 during a secret gig at The Comedy Store in Sydney, Australia.
At the time, the performer said he wanted to get on stage and “muck around and see what Ali G would be like with a crowd.” He added that it was “really good fun.”

That launched ‘Da Ali G Show’ in the early 2000s. From there Baron Cohen introduced a number of new characters, including Borat, and Bruno.
