Peep Show is getting an American remake

Maybe it'll be good?!!

Carl Anka

Legendary Channel 4 sitcom Peep Show could be getting an American remake.

No, really.

One of the most seminal works of British humour is getting the American redux treatment.

Den of Geek reports that American television network Starz, who have previously behind the UK-US television collaboration Torchwood: Miracle Day, as well as the upcoming American Gods adaptation, will be making the American reboot.

Wilfred and Son Of Zorn‘s scribbler Eli Jorne will be the remake’s showrunner, while original Peep Show writers Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong will act as consulting producers, just to make sure they get Super Hans juuuusssst right.

Peep-show

It’s rather unexpected news. Peep Show is widely considered to be one of the best British sitcoms of all time, and a lot of that had to do with Jez and Mark’s uniquely British and ridiculous nature.

We at JOE are certainly big fans of the show, so we’ll be intrigued to see how it translates over the Atlantic.

Weirder still is that this will be the SECOND attempt at remaking Peep Show for an American audience.

Back in 2005, a pilot episode was tested, with Big Bang Theory actor Johnny Galecki in the role of Mark.

That’s right, they tried to turn Mark, into SHELDON.

Here’s hoping the second attempt at a reboot will be more The Office and less The Inbetweeners eh?
