“If I were to describe this series in three words, it would be ‘Just. Fu**ing. Awesome.’”
Game of Thrones fans have to wait what seems like forever until the final season arrives in 2019, but they’ll be glad to know that the man who inspired the show has something in the works that will air well before that.
A sci-fi novella called Nightflyers by George R.R. Martin, author of the Song of Ice and Fire novels that were adapted to TV in Game of Thrones, is set to air in autumn of this year having been filmed in Troy Studios in Limerick, Ireland.
A first teaser trailer dropped for the new series on Tuesday (see below), which features Martin himself describing it as “a haunted house story on a starship”.
It sure does look scary as hell from the teaser trailer and why we don’t actually see anyone die in it, we know from his history that Martin is not shy of quite brutal depictions of bloodshed.
It's one of the biggest productions ever to take place in the Republic of Ireland and if it’s even half as popular and successful as Martin’s most famous work then it will be well on the right track.
A ten-part series, Nightflyers will air exclusively on Netflix worldwide, excluding the United States in autumn of this year.
