‘It deserves to become a cult classic’

A new indie horror film has debuted with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 100 per cent.

Late Night With The Devil is a found-footage horror film, directed and edited by Australian brothers Cameron and Colin Cairnes, and executive produced by Joel Anderson, Rami Yasin, and David Dastmalchian, who also stars in the film.

Despite having its world premiere in March last year at the South by Southwest Film Festival , the film is only just getting a theatrical release and is hitting cinemas next week.

You can watch the trailer below.

The film stars Dastmalchian as TV host Jack Delroy, Laura Gordon as Dr. June Ross-Mitchell, a parapsychologist and author, and Ingrid Torelli as a young teenager who is the sole survivor of a Satanic Church’s mass suicide.

The synopsis reads: “Johnny Carson rival Jack Delroy hosts a syndicated talk show ‘Night Owls’ that has long been a trusted companion to insomniacs around the country.

“However, ratings for the show have plummeted since the tragic death of Jack’s beloved wife. Desperate to turn his fortunes around, on October 31st, 1977, Jack plans a Halloween special like no other – unaware he is about to unleash evil into the living rooms of America.”

The film has received glowing reviews, and at the time of writing has a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score based on 43 reviews.

The critics consensus reads: “Delightfully dark, Late Night with the Devil proves possession horror isn’t played out — and serves as an outstanding showcase for David Dastmalchian.”

Amongst the reviews, some have labelled it “one of the best indie horrors in years” and a film that “deserves to become a cult classic.”

In a four-star review, the Metro described it as “one of the scariest films of the year”, whilst Forbes labelled it a “well-crafted exercise in suspense and dread.”

If this has piqued your interest, you won’t have to wait long before you can watch the film yourself, as Late Night with the Devil will be released in UK cinemas on March 19.
